Blue Magic: Indigo Dye and Shibori

Join textile artist Deborah Manson to learn how to make beautiful natural blues and patterns on cloth using indigo dye and and Shibori: Japanese folding and tying resist dye techniques

Bring along some lightly coloured cloth to dye, or something you’d like to transform like a garment or homeware. Indigo works best on natural fabrics such as linen, cotton, wool and silk.

1 x plain cotton tote bag will be provided for you to dye.

This one-day workshop will give you an opportunity to experiment with the magic of indigo and create a series of samples and your own individual Shibori textile bag.

The workshop is suitable for all ages. Children and families welcome. (Under 14s must be accompanied by an adult).

All materials will be provided but please bring a selection of lightly coloured fabrics, 100% cotton, linen, silk or wool.

PLEASE NOTE : COTTON /LINEN FABRICS MUST BE PRE-WASHED AT A HIGH TEMPERATURE (90oC). SILK AND WOOL MUST ALSO BE PRE-WASHED AT A LOWER TEMPERATURE.
