This 3 week course will cover block printing and mono print on to fabric.

Develop drawings and collage to make printing blocks from foam, lino and other experimental printmaking materials.

These sessions will give you time to develop your design ideas through block print and mono print using hand made printing blocks. Learn how to mix textile inks and play with composition, colour, pattern and overprinting.

Throughout the sessions you will be shown the work of inspirational artists and designers and work towards a final printed textile piece such as a length of fabric, bag, t-shirt or tea towel, or a series of experimental samples.

Printed Textiles at the dairy studio is suitable for both beginners and those with previous experience.

Previous students have used the course to rekindle their creative practice, learn new skills and meet like-minded people.

After the initial three weeks there will be an opportunity to book further on going sessions where you will be introduced to paper stencil silk screen printing and have the opportunity to develop your work in greater depth.

Most materials are supplied although students will need to bring the following:

Plain white or lightly coloured linen/cotton 2 metres (which could be a repurposed piece of cloth such as a sheet or unpicked garment), or plain cotton/linen tote bag, or t-towel x 5, or mixture of each.
Small pieces/scraps of plain cotton/linen fabric for testing.
A3 hardback sketchbook and black fine liner.
